Stabilising Food Security and Protecting Livelihoods

Purpose:

The objective is to provide food security, rural development and gender equality for poor rural men and women, including households headed by women and those affected by HIV/AIDS.  The anticipated impact of the project is to reduce hunger and increase resilience among rural men and women in Manicaland Province.

Locations:

The project will target vulnerable households in Nyanga, Chipinge, and Chimanimani West Districts, Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe. The project will initially work in a limited number of target communities in each of these districts, scaling-up to include additional communities in its subsequent three-year phase.

Activities:

The project expects to contribute to:

  • Improved and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable men and women in select districts of Manicaland Province
  • Enhanced capacity of SAFIRE to support sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable men and women in select districts of Manicaland Province

Local partner organizations and vulnerable men and women will participate directly in planning and implementing project activities to ensure that these reflect local priorities and aspirations for development. The specific activities that the project will undertake will be determined during the project planning and inception stage.
