Strengthening Community Responses to AIDS Through Livelihoods Initiatives

To bring self-sufficiency to vulnerable households in Thika and Maragua districts in Kenya. CHF and our local partner work to provide alternative sources of income and improved food production to a population primarily dependent on casual labour and contract farming for their livelihoods.

CHF has been involved in Kenya since the 1980s. Initially, our projects focused on rural water supply and agriculture. More recently, we are working with our partners to support those affected by HIV and AIDS in the most vulnerable rural populations. We are also increasing agricultural and livestock production, promoting village based savings and loans groups, and helping poor families to earn extra income.
