Purpose:
To contribute to coordinated reconstruction efforts that promote poverty reduction, sustainable development and social equity in earthquake-affected areas of Pakistan.
Situation:
This is a four-year continuation of the Sustainable Livelihoods Rehabilitation in Four Earthquake-Affected Union Councils of Abbottabad District project. It will focus on rebuilding the roads, irrigation channels, terraces, health facilities and other infrastructure lost in the earthquake. Now that the poorest of the poor are working towards sustainable livelihoods, it is time to focus on reconstructing the community infrastructure and building disaster-preparedness mechanisms to enable communities to respond if earthquake or flood should happen again.
Results:

Enhance and sustainable livelihoods for targeted households and marginalized/vulnerable groups

Environmentally and economically sustainable community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) undertaken, particularly in relation to livelihoods sustainability

Assets lost to the earthquake, such as livestock, shelters and farming tools, are restored
