When you buy a CHF Gift that Matters, here’s how it works.... The cost of your gift takes into consideration all the factors needed to ensure that it has the greatest possible impact on the lives of people living in poverty. Each item in the catalogue is needed for one or more current CHF projects overseas.
Your donation will be applied to one of them. Once enough funds are raised for the specific type of gift you selected, CHF will apply your donation to another aspect of our projects providing livelihoods for people challenged by poverty. Since our bundled gift baskets offer items from several of our projects, these donations may support more than one of them.

Thank You -- Find Out How You Made a Difference
Last holiday season, literally thousands of individuals donated gifts totalling over $300,000 to support CHF’s projects in Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This season, we’re introducing a selection of new gifts, including two new gifts baskets – one for gardeners and one for animal lovers. All will help the ultra poor in the remote rural regions CHF serves to increase their incomes, diversity their livelihoods, and become self-sufficient.
Seeds of Change
Here’s how a bag of onion seeds changed the life of a farmer in Zimbabwe
Robson Nyatondo considered the bag of onion seeds and training he was given through CHF’s project as a windfall. He lives on a small plot at the foot of the Bvumba Mountains in eastern Zimbabwe. Although his land is extremely fertile, shortages of seed and the collapse of local markets for his produce mean that he is struggling to grow enough to feed his family.
Onions, he explains, are drought-tolerant, hardy and easy to grow and — most importantly — there is still a market for them. Gesturing to the rows of onions hanging in his shed, he says that the project’s support has brought him higher yields and better onions. He intends to sell the onions when the prices are high, and use the money he earns to buy food for his family and to invest in his farm.
This holiday season, for just $100, you can help change a life. Please help us to provide clean, safe water for a family in the village of Dakpemyilli in Northern Ghana where clean water is very scarce. Families regularly bathe and drink from the same water that livestock use, so water-borne diseases are a significant health hazard. Villagers are ‘harvesting’ rain water. Your Gift That Matters will help build the water catchment system required to support 10 families in the village.
