CHF is Back to School!
CHF is going back to school again this fall, bringing lessons learned on the ground around the world right into Canadian classrooms. For 20 years now, CHF has been teaching Canadian children and youth about how people live in developing countries and encouraging them to be engaged global citizens. The Global Education Program is provided for free and shows students how they can get involved and make the world a better place to live.
Looking for something to energize the children and youth in your life? Are you on a quest to make real life connections about their role in the world?
Designed specifically for educators, our resources have been developed using international development expertise to provide authentic and engaging material to help raise awareness in a more complex world, including lesson plans, classroom presentations and student engagement activities.

New Lesson Unit
This fall, CHF is launching 10 new units for teachers, including our featured unit for September, Local to Global Environmental Changes: Beyond Disaster Relief.
As active members and leaders in the international development community CHF felt compelled to prepare a unit for teachers and students that takes them beyond the all to familiar media coverage of emergency disaster relief efforts. This new unit delves into how disasters affect developing countries, and how the right efforts can minimize damage.
These lessons, games and presentations are meant to provide children and youth with a complete picture of disaster relief by getting them to think more deeply about disasters. With this lesson unit, students will gain a better appreciation for and understanding of, the importance of pre-disaster preparedness, post disaster recovery and the linkages to global environmental changes.
