CHF’s Global Education Program
As this program has grown, it has become more volunteer-led and community-driven.
CHF’s Global Education program ensures teachers have access to the skills, knowledge and teaching materials to educate their students about current global issues. Students learn more about the world around them, their diverse society, the environment and how to become active global citizens.
Working through a formal curriculum that adheres to provincial education ministry guidelines, the Global Education Program provides a wide range of student and teacher support including:
- In-class presentations
- Lessons
- Interactive games and contests
- Multimedia resources, including video, website and e-newsletters
At the elementary level students are exploring the lives of poor rural communities in Ghana, Vietnam and Ethiopia. High school students are learning about the UN Millennium Development Goals and the impact of the world food crisis and climate change on the rural poor.
Presentations are now being offered in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
Since its launch, the Global Education Program has touched the lives of more than 250,000 Canadian school children and the program continues to expand — thanks to the commitment of 75 volunteers and ever-growing demand from teachers.
