About
Welcome to CHF's ”Show What you Know" Media Arts Contest. This contest focuses on the creation of a multimedia project in order to allow students to think critically and create messages in a variety of forms. The projects developed by students (Grades 1-12) will focus on ANY issue that impacts the rural poor. Possible topics may include the environment, food security or environmental degradation. Each project should demonstrate 4 areas.
- Some of the key issues facing rural communities in developing countries.
- Some positive assets of rural communities.
- How a sustainable livelihoods approach improves people’s lives by ensuring communities gain access to skills and resources to generate an income.
- Finally, each project should also demonstrate how they and their fellow students can get involved to make a difference in the lives of the rural poor.
CHF has been able to provide you and your students with resources including case studies, illustrations, photos and videos that your students are welcome to use when creating their media presentations. All images and music must be used from this area or the CHF website or the student must prove that they have been given the rights to use other images, music etc. in their video.
All entries that contain images and music that have not come from the CHF website, unless the entry has provided written permission from the owner, will be disqualified.
There will be six prizes awarded in six categories. The categories include one Early Bird prize award to the best entry (video, poster or pamphlet), the Grades 1-9 Video Prize, Grades 1-9 Paper (Pamphlet or Poster) Prize, the Grades 10-12 Video Prize and the Grades 10-12 Paper Prize and the People’s Choice prize. Winning entries may be used as promotional material for CHF in upcoming workshops, promotions and media releases.
It is important that all students are aware of the copyright requirement in their projects. When they win, they will be asked to complete a release form for all of the people found in the video.
