CHF's Brand

CHF's brand is optimistic, hopeful, empowering and pragmatic. We look at what's right with the picture, seeing assets instead of liabilities, opportunities instead of scarcity, and power instead of helplessness.

We engage local organizations and individuals as partners in development, supporting them to achieve locally defined results. Our work is grounded in two core approaches: the sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) and organizational capacity building.

CHF now takes a more holistic approach in its programs, incorporating cross-cutting global issues like environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, disaster-risk mitigation, gender equality and food security.

Short CHF Descriptors

Here are some short descriptors you can use when describing the organization:

CHF is a non-profit organization dedicated to enabling poor rural communities in developing countries to attain sustainable livelihoods. Building on 50 years of international partnership, CHF helps reveal the power within communities to create self-reliance – for now and for the future.

OR

At CHF, we take a different view — seeing assets instead of liabilities, opportunities instead of scarcity, and power instead of helplessness.

As a Canadian non-profit international development organization, CHF has been relentless in its mission to break the poverty cycle in rural areas. We're driven by a passionate commitment to a world in which the rural poor can ultimately help themselves.

Our goal to deliver effective, sustainable and transformation development is being realized via the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach (SLA). This approach lets us see beyond the surface of a community's problems so we can detect the positive assets it already possesses, and help to foster sustainable livelihoods.

Our approach is working. In the last 50 years, CHF has implemented over 800 projects in more than 50 countries, helping millions in Asia, Africa and the Americas to improve their daily lives.

Across the globe, the result is clear: by seeing more, we're seeing change.

Or

CHF, the Canadian Hunger Foundation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to enabling poor rural communities in developing countries to attain sustainable livelihoods. CHF involves entire communities as architects of their own development, designing and implementing projects that meet their critical needs, and helping them to collaborate with local organizations and government agencies. Over the past five decades, CHF has implemented over 800 projects in 52 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas, enabling millions to improve their daily lives.

As a registered charity, CHF takes every measure to ensure we use donor funds most efficiently. Through our partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), CHF offer Canadian donors an exceptional return-on-investment, a minimum of 3 to 1 for each dollar donated, and sometimes as high as 20 to 1.
